Hi Courage fam! It's Makenzy Doniak here.
As some of you may know, I am playing on Adelaide United in Australia for the off season. I thought I would check in and let you know how it's going so far!
The season started about three weeks ago, and I am really enjoying playing in this beautiful country. My team has played three games, with one win and two losses so far. I am playing striker and loving it! I mean, who doesn't like to score goals right? I also have enjoyed playing with this group of girls because it has opened my eyes to all the different styles of play. I am learning so many new things that I think will only help me get better as a player.
As the season continues, I look forward to absorbing any and all information I get from my coaches and teammates. The W League here in Australia is such a great opportunity for players in our league to get competitive games in during the offseason. I plan to use this experience to further my growth in the game, and hopefully come back to the NWSL with a positive impact.
Life outside of soccer in Aussie is as you would expect- pretty amazing. I have been to the beach quite a few times, and I think I may go back a few more. The views are breathtaking, and I am trying to soak up as much of this country as I can in these short three months. In fact, I reckon I am even starting to pick up their lingo a little. ‘No dramas' over here, mates!
Currently, I am just feeling very blessed to have gotten this opportunity to play the game I love in another country.
That's all I have for now. Thanks for reading, and I can't wait to see you all next year!
