COURAGE IN AUSTRALIA: KEEP UP WITH ASHLEY HATCH AND MAKENZY DONIAK

NC Courage players Ashley Hatch and Makenzy Doniak have packed their bags and headed on loan to teams of the Westfield W-League during the NWSL offseason. Hatch is taking her talents to Melbourne City FC, while Doniak has found her place at Adelaide United FC. We’ll be keeping a close eye on them over the next few months so you can stay up to date on all the action in Australia. Here’s what you need to know about the Courage in the Down Under.

About the Westfield W-League

The W-League is the top-division women’s soccer league in Australia, and is run by the Football Federation Australia. Established in 2008, the W-League has nine teams including Adelaide United, Brisbane Roar, Canberra United, Melbourne City, Melbourne Victory, Newcastle Jets, Perth Glory, Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers. Where to Watch

Melbourne, Australia is 11 hours ahead, and Adelaide, Australia is 10.5 hours ahead of us here in North Carolina, so most of the W-League games will be played in the early hours of the morning. Ashley Hatch at Melbourne City FC

Located in South Australia, Melbourne City FC plays their home games at both the CB Smith Reserve and AAMI Park. In 2016, Melbourne City had a perfect season. The team went 12-0 and won the 2016 W-League Grand Final only to then turn around and win it again the following year.

Makenzy Doniak at Adelaide United FC

Adelaide is located 730 km to the northeast of Melbourne, and the team plays their home games at Elite Systems Football Centre. Founded in 2008, Adelaide ended last season in sixth place.
