Chicago (July 30, 2019) – Kristen Hamilton of the North Carolina Courage has been voted NWSL Player of the Week for Week 15 of the 2019 season by the NWSL Media Association. The attacker tied the game, then assisted the game winning goal against the Utah Royals in a 2-1 victory on July 27th. The Courage gained three critical points in the standings, where they currently sit in 2nd place.

After the Courage fell behind by a goal, Hamilton scored in the 35th minute to tie the match at 1-1. She shouldered down a high ball and blasted it toward the goal, where it deflected off Utah’s goalkeeper and into the net. The goal was her 8th so far this season and came off of Sam Mewis’ first assist for the year. Then, in the 54th minute, Hamilton assisted on Jessica McDonald’s game winning goal. Hamilton is currently 2nd in the league in goals and tied for 6th in assists. The North Carolina Courage return to action at home on Friday, August 2 at 7:00 p.m. to play the Washington Spirit. The Women’s International Champions Cup will take place Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park later in the month on August 15 and 18.
