SEATTLE, WASH. (June 23, 2018) – North Carolina Courage midfielder McCall Zerboni etched her name into NWSL history Saturday afternoon against Seattle Reign FC, becoming the first player in league history to play 10,000 regular-season minutes.

The 31-year-old reached the milestone in the 21st minute of the Courage’s win in Seattle, the latest achievement in what’s been an accomplishment-filled 2018 season for Zerboni. Twice-named the NWSL Player of the Week, Zerboni has scored three goals for the Courage and her good form landed her a spot in the U.S. Women’s National Team for its two friendly matches against China, as she made her second international appearance.

The NWSL began play in 2013, and Zerboni spent her first two years in the league with the Western New York Flash. From there, the Camarillo, Calif., native spent one year with Portland Thorns FC in 2015 before heading to the Boston Breakers at the beginning of the 2016 season. After eight games with the Breakers, Zerboni was traded to Western New York, where she reunited with Paul Riley, whom she played under in Portland.

Following the team’s relocation to Cary, Zerboni earned NWSL Best XI honors for the first time in her career in 2017. Entering Saturday’s match against Seattle, Zerboni ranked second in the league with 11.3 duels won per game

Zerboni and her Courage teammates close out a two-match road swing at the Orlando Pride on Saturday, June 30, at 3:30 p.m. ET in the Lifetime NWSL Game of the Week. The Courage return to Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park on Wednesday, July 4, at 7 p.m. ET against the Chicago Red Stars.
