Cary, NC (October 14, 2019)- NC Courage midfielder McCall Zerboni was selected by Select PT as the Comeback Player of the Year. Zerboni has started 19 games and played 1,670 minutes in 2019 after recovering from injury.
“It has been a challenging year for me with a lot of hurdles, so I am very grateful for all the health care I have received that assisted me in returning to the pitch,” said Zerboni. “All the care and dedication was top notch which boosted my wellness and performance.” After dealing with a lingering foot issue last season, Zerboni continued to show the grit and determination needed to help lead the club both on and off the field. She then suffered a devastating elbow injury while playing with the USWNT. The injury was so serious it required major reconstructive elbow surgery. Throughout the healing process, Zerboni continued being a positive force within the club and community and never let her injury and recovery get her down. She has continued to show leadership and pure dedication while playing a significant role in winning the third consecutive NWSL Shield. For these reasons, Select Physical Therapy is proud to name Zerboni as the 2019 Select Physical Therapy Comeback Player of the Year. Zerboni and the NC Courage will host Reign FC in an NWSL Semifinal game on Sunday, October 20 at 1:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here.
