Cary, NC (August 26, 2019)- A celebration of NC Courage midfielder Heather O’Reilly’s stellar professional career will take place at the NC Courage – Orlando Pride match on Saturday, September 14 at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park.

At the beginning of the 2019 season, O’Reilly announced her plans to retire after a 17-year career that earned her several accolades. The UNC-Chapel Hill graduate joined the North Carolina Courage in 2018 and is in her second season with the club. Before joining the Courage, she was a member of Arsenal Ladies, Kansas City FC, Sky Blue FC, and the Boston Breakers.

O’Reilly is known for her legendary career with the United States Women’s National Team where she won three Olympic gold medals and the 2015 FIFA World Cup. Coincidentally, her very first international goal for the USWNT was scored at WakeMed Soccer Park in a match against Italy on October 6, 2002, a game in which she also recorded her first assist.

The club will recognize O’Reilly’s career throughout the game, culminating in a post-match presentation where she will be surrounded by friends and family on the field. Fans are encouraged to attend the match and stay for the post-game ceremony to celebrate O’Reilly and her accomplishments.

Saturday, September 14 will also be Breast Cancer Awareness Night and the match is presented by Aetna. To purchase tickets to this fun-filled evening, contact the Coastal Credit Union Box Office at 919.459.8144 or click here.
