Cary, NC (March 6, 2023) — The North Carolina Football Club and Lenovo start the second iteration of the Starting STEM campaign with a free field day for program participants on Friday, March 10th, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET at WakeMed Soccer Park. More than 200 local elementary school students and teachers will join North Carolina Courage players and staff as the culmination of the Starting STEM program, presented by Lenovo.

“The importance of STEM in the Triangle has grown exponentially, and we are proud to host the Spring 2023 Starting STEM field day along with Lenovo volunteers, allowing us to introduce local students to STEM at a young age.” said North Carolina Football Club President Francie Gottsegen. “This field day allows students to interact with soccer activities and STEM related experiences, as well as virtual reality activities. We appreciate and thank Lenovo for their support and their contributions to this amazing program.” Starting STEM, launched in spring 2022, gives hands-on STEM curriculum and programming to elementary school teachers and students in North Carolina by utilizing soccer examples to improve student interest and performance. Additionally, Starting STEM has provided educational workshops and free Lenovo tablets to teachers. “Lenovo is proud to partner with North Carolina Football Club for the second year as part of our continued commitment to promoting early STEM education in our home state,” said Lenovo NA Chief Marketing Officer Gerald Youngblood. “Through the Starting STEM program, students observe the parallels between science and sport through various creative problem-solving and soccer-related activities. Students leave with an understanding of how STEM applies in every area of their lives, including on the soccer field, as well as new level of enthusiasm that they can bring back to the classroom.” Further information about the Lenovo Starting STEM program can be found here.
