QUICK KICKS: Dani Weatherholt

The North Carolina Courage have bolstered their roster with the addition of free agent Dani Weatherholt. A veteran with nearly 10,000 minutes of NWSL regular season experience, Weatherholt will be a true two-way player that brings a different dynamic to the Courage midfield. Get to know the newest member of Courage Country with our Quick Kicks series: Coast to Coast Weatherholt was selected in the fourth round of the 2016 NWSL Draft by Orlando and made 74 appearances in four seasons with the Pride. Orlando then traded Weatherholt to Seattle Reign FC ahead of the 2021 season. She made 20 appearances in her lone season in the Pacific Northwest and completed 81.76% of her passes, won 65.22% of her tackles and a career-high 53.66% of her duels. Angel City selected Weatherholt in its expansion draft prior to the 2022 season and she made 41 appearances across two seasons in Los Angeles, winning 185 duels, 47 tackles and creating 10 chances. After starting her career in central Florida, spending the next three years on the west coast, Weatherholt is back on the Atlantic. Champ Down Under Weatherholt went on loan to Australian club Melbourne Victory during the 2018-19 offseason. She made 12 appearances on the W-League circuit to help the club win the Premiership title. It was the first professional trophy for Weatherholt. During that season, Melbourne Victory competed in the highest-attended match of the season with 7,163 in attendance for their December 1 matchup with Perth Glory. Broncos Country, Let’s Ride Weatherholt attended Santa Clara University from 2012 to 2015. During her freshman year she started all 22 games and was named to the All-WCC Honorable Mention, WCC All-Freshman team as well as to the TopDrawer Soccer Freshman Team of the Year. During her sophomore year she played in all 22 games and helped the Broncos to the Round of 16 of the 2013 NCAA Tournament. She started all 20 games for the Broncos again as a junior, earning All-WCC Honorable Mention. Weatherholt started all 21 games of her decorated senior year when she earned Third Team All-West Region, First Team All-WCC and NSCAA (now United Soccer Coaches) Scholar Second Team All-West Region.
