Cary, NC (January 25, 2017)- North Carolina Courage goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo is one of 10 Canadians participating as a subsidized player in the NWSL for the 2017 Season, the club announced today.
Last year, D’Angelo was a standout in the 2016 NWSL Championship, making three saves in penalty kicks to help her team defeat the Washington Spirit 3-2. She started her professional career with the Western New York Flash as the No. 21 pick in the 2015 NWSL College Draft. The Welland, Ontario native made her first appearance for the Canadian Women’s National Team on March 4, 2016 against Belgium in the Algarve Cup in Portugal. D’Angelo was also on Canada’s roster when the team won a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro. The goalkeeper started in the 3-1 win over Zimbabwe on August 6, 2016.
