SIX NC COURAGE PLAYERS ON INTERNATIONAL DUTY IN SEPTEMBER

Six NC Courage players are representing their home nations this month in international play. During these matches, the NWSL will take a break before picking back up for the final two weeks of the regular season. The U.S. Women’s National Team will see all four NC Courage players from the Tournament of Nations return for two friendlies against New Zealand including Abby Dahlkemper, Sam Mewis, Taylor Smith and Lynn Williams. Debinha gets another call-up for her home nation of Brazil, and will be traveling to Australia to take on the Matildas for the second and third times this year. Denise O’Sullivan will participate in a 2019 FIFA World Cup Qualifying match against Northern Ireland with her native Republic of Ireland.

Abby Dahlkemper- USA

She made her first start for the national team in June, and since then, started in three games during the 2017 Tournament of Nations to bring her total to 405 minutes in five games played in 2017.

Sam Mewis- USA

Twitter-@sammymewy Instagram- sammymewyy Mewis is now a mainstay in Jill Ellis’ lineup. She’s appeared and started in 10 games, bringing her USWNT total to 28 caps. The center midfielder has scored five goals representing the USA and most recently found the net in the 2017 Tournament of Nations against Brazil.

Lynn Williams- USA

Twitter- @lynnraenie Instagram- lynnwillliams9 Williams will once again bring her speed and finishing ability to the USWNT roster for the upcoming friendlies. She’s scored twice in 10 caps including a goal against global-powerhouse Germany in February and has logged 209 minutes already in 2017.

Taylor Smith- USA

Twitter- **@**taylornsmith11_ Instagram- taylornsmith11_ Smith has not been called to the USWNT as many times as her NC Courage teammates, but the outside back proved she belonged during the 2017 Tournament of Nations in which she started two out of three games played. She also set up Mallory Pugh and Alex Morgan for goals against Japan in the final game of the tournament.

Debinha- Brazil

Twitter- @Debinha7 Instagram- debinhaa7 Debinha has been a regular with the Brazilian women’s national team since 2011 and has scored 21 goals in 51 appearances, including two goals in seven FIFA World Cup appearances. She was recently called up in April for a friendly against Bolivia, two friendlies in June against Spain and Iceland, and the Tournament of Nations.

Denise O’Sullivan- Republic of Ireland Twitter- @OSullivanDenise Instagram- deniseosullivan100 The Cork, Ireland native has earned 51 caps for the Republic of Ireland since 2011. Since making her senior team debut at 17 years old, she’s scored eight goals for her home country. O’Sullivan was recently on the roster for the 2017 Cyprus Cup in March and an international friendly against Iceland in June.

Sept. 15- USA 3-1 NZL

Sam Mewis, Abby Dahlkemper and Taylor Smith each saw a start in the 3-1 win over New Zealand on Friday night. Two goals from Julie Ertz and a final goal from Alex Morgan sealed in the international friendly victory for the USA in Denver, Co.

Sept. 16- AUS 2-1 BRA

Debinha scored the lone goal for Brazil in an international friendly early Saturday morning in the 33rd minute of play.

Sept. 19- IRl 2-0 N.IREL

O’Sullivan played for the full 90 minutes, and helped her country to a big 2-0 win in its FIFA qualifier.

Sept. 19- AUS 3-2 BRA

Debinha did not see minutes this game.

Sept. 19- USA 5-0 NZL

Mewis and Dahlkemper both started the match, while Williams and Smith came on as halftime subs. Mewis notched an assist to open up the flood of goals from the USWNT. Williams netted the fourth goal of the night to help solidfy the 5-0 victory over New Zealand in Cincinnati, Ohio. The NC Courage return to NWSL play on Sunday, Sept. 24 in New Jersey as they take on Sky Blue FC in a 6 p.m. ET matchup. The team then comes home for a regular season finale against Alex Morgan and the Orlando Pride. The NC Courage will then host a semi-final match in the 2017 NWSL playoffs on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 3:30 p.m. An opponent is to be determined.
