Cary, NC (July 22, 2020)- NC Courage star strikers Kristen Hamilton and Lynn Williams have been nominated for the Westfield W-League Julie Dolan Medal, an honor given to the competition’s best player for the season. Both Hamilton and Williams spent time playing on-loan in the top-division women’s soccer league in Australia for the Western Sydney Wanderers during the NWSL offseason.
Williams’ stint with the Wanderers was shorter than expected after consistently being called into camp with the United States Women’s National Team. In five games, Williams scored four goals and had three assists. “I’m honored and humbled to be nominated for the award,” Williams said. “I’m thankful to the Wanderers staff and my teammates for all the hard work and dedication they put into the team. I wouldn’t have been successful without them.” Hamilton played in 12 games and set the single-season club record for the Western Sydney Wanderers with seven goals, which put in her in a tie for the Golden Boot Award. She also had two assists. “It’s an honor to be nominated for this award,” said Hamilton. “I give all the credit to the incredible team I had around me. I wouldn’t have been successful this season without them.” The Julie Dolan Medal winner will be announced tomorrow, July 23 at 5 a.m. ET. The W-League awards can be watched on the Westfield W-League Facebook page.
