CARY, NC (November 18, 2021) – The North Carolina Courage have announced that Angharad James has been called to represent the Wales Women’s National Team during the November FIFA International Window from November 21 to December 1, in which the squad will play in a series of World Cup qualifying matches against Greece on November 26 and France on Tuesday, November 30.
On the international stage, James has appeared in 83 matches for the Wales senior team since her debut at age 17. In 2017, James was named the Wales Women’s Player of the Year, and earned the honor of Wales Women’s Young Player of the Year in 2013 and 2014. For the Courage, the midfielder has appeared in 17 matches and clocked 827 minutes of playing time, registering twelve clearances, 2 blocks, and 17 interceptions while maintaining an 80.7% success rate in passing, taking six shots, four of which were on target, and scoring her first NWSL goal against NJ/NY Gotham FC.
In the postseason, James helped lead her Courage side to the NWSL quarterfinals in which they faced the Washington Spirit, falling 1-0 in overtime and ending their 2021 NWSL season.
